Miss Black Royal International - Kortlahn Ballard,

Born and raised in Houston, TX to a loving and supportive family, Kortlahn has always been an advocate for health promotion. 


She attended Texas Tech University from 2016-2019 and quickly captured the title Miss Black Texas Tech University during her freshman year. She used this title to promote health and wellness throughout her university and hosted a wellness seminar and panel discussion named “Take Care.” 


In 2019, she decided to continue her education at the Texas Tech Health Science Center from 2019-2021 graduating with her Master’s of Public Health. This degree allowed her to expand upon the very knowledge she is using to provide communities with accurate advice to address their health needs. 


Kortlahn served as the 2024 Miss Black Oklahoma USA with her platform, “Let’s Talk About it.” This is a multi media campaign that was used to spread accurate health information to the community. She attended nationwide town hall meetings with the National Council of Negro Women and Continental Societies to support her effort’s. 


Currently, Kortlahn is an Epidemiologist for the Oklahoma City-County Health Department serving her community the best way she knows how. Through her work at the Oklahoma City-County Health Department, she has seen first the gaps in health knowledge that are growing within the community.
